Alphabet City was created when my son started learning to read and write. I was interested in illustrating the shape of the letters to correspond with what obvious meanings the letters symbolized. It was important that the letter was easy to decipher and the image was easy to recognize. The motifs I chose had to be a mixture of urban and natural life.
